About the Author
The Late Honourable James J. Carthy was a member of the Court of Appeal from 1988 to 2004. He was formerly litigation counsel with Weir & Foulds (now WeirFoulds LLP), and was a former member of the Rules Committee and a Bencher.
W.A. Derry Millar, B.A., LL.B. practises exclusively in civil litigation and administrative law with WeirFoulds LLP and is currently Treasurer of the Law Society of Upper Canada. A Bencher, frequent speaker and lecturer, Mr. Millar has served as a Member of the Civil Rules Committee and its predecessors since 1976.
Jeff G. Cowan, B.A., LL.B., Dip.L., LL.M. specializes in civil and public law litigation at WeirFoulds LLP. He served as Head of Section for the Public Law course of the Law Society of Upper Canada's Bar Admission Course from 1986 to 2005 and continues to write and speak at numerous seminars and conferences relating to civil and public law litigation issues. He is a member of the Secretariat of the Civil Rules Committee.
