About the Author
Melanie Yach, a partner in the Estates & Trusts Group at Aird & Berlis, LLP, practices in all areas of estates and trusts including estate and trust planning and administration and charity and not-for-profit law. Her practice is focused on estate and trust litigation. She acts for numerous clients in matters particularly involving estate, trust and capacity issues and has many years of experience in corporate/commercial litigation. Ms. Yach is a member of the executive branch of the Estates & Trusts Section of the Ontario Canadian Bar Association, the Society of Estate & Trust Practitioners (STEP) and The Advocates' Society. She is a past sessional instructor at Queen's University Law School and past Instructor for both The Advocates' Society and the Osgoode Intensive Trial Advocacy Course. She is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Multiple Sclerosis Society (Ontario Division), the Professional Advisors Committee of the Toronto Community Foundation and the Board of Directors of the Macaulay Child Development Centre. Ms. Yach speaks on a wide variety of estates and trust law topics at events sponsored by the Ontario Bar Association, The Law Society of Upper Canada and other professional organizations. She regularly makes presentations to clients on estate planning and related topics.
