About the Author
Gareth Jones has conducted hundreds of investigations and is currently Director of the Special Ombudsman Response Team (SORT) at the Office of the Ombudsman of Ontario, Canada. He is responsible for directing all major systemic investigations including investigations into the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, Legal Aid Ontario and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.

Previously, he was seconded to the Office of the Ombudsman of the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces as a Special Advisor and Director of SORT. As a former investigator with the Attorney General of the Province of Ontario, Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Gareth Jones conducted approximately 500 criminal investigations into incidents where police were involved in a death or serious injury. He was the lead investigator in the majority of these cases. He is also a former London, UK police officer. Together with André Marin, Gareth Jones created and instructs an investigative training course entitled Sharpening Your Teeth: Advanced Investigative Training for Administrative Watchdogs. They are currently developing a new training course on effective police oversight.
