2.     Which devices are supported by Thomson Reuters ProView?

The Thomson Reuters ProView platform is currently only supported on web browsers and the Apple iPad®. We are currently evaluating other tablet devices for future releases of Thomson Reuters ProView.

3.     What system requirements are needed to run Thomson Reuters ProView?

The Thomson Reuters ProView platform runs on the following web browsers: Internet Explorer 7, Safari 5, Firefox 3.6 on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.5, as well as any version of the iPad running iOS 4.3 or greater.

4.     Is the Thomson Reuters ProView app free?

There is no charge to access Thomson Reuters ProView on your web browser or to download the Thomson Reuters ProView app. Each purchase of a print book allows access to one Thomson Reuters ProView version of that same title. In order to get access to the Thomson Reuters ProView version you are required to register all entitled users with us and only those users may access the Thomson Reuters ProView version.

5.     Is the Thomson Reuters ProView application compatible with all versions of the iPad?

ProView is compatible with all versions of the iPad. However, note they must be running iOS 4.3 or greater.

6.     How do I access the Thomson Reuters ProView application?

iPad: You can download the Thomson Reuters ProView app from the Apple iTunes App Store by searching for “Thomson Reuters ProView”. 
Web browser: To access your eBook on your web browser, simply visit the following web address:
https://proview.thomsonreuters.com/login.html. You do not need to download the iTunes app for this option.

7.     How is Thomson Reuters ProView different from a PDF?

Our new eBook format will allow you to conduct your research in the same way that you could if you were using a hard cover book. Features include:

b.     The ability to:

·   Search within the eBook

8.     Can I access Thomson Reuters ProView from my personal computer browser?

Yes. To access your eBook from your web browser, simply visit the following web address: https://proview.thomsonreuters.com/login.html. You do not need to download the iTunes app for this option.

9.     Do I need an internet connection to use Thomson Reuters ProView on iPad? 

You will need an internet connection to register Thomson Reuters ProView in OnePass and to sync your library titles, notes and annotations. Otherwise, you do not need an internet connection to view content on Thomson Reuters ProView on your iPad

10.   How are Thomson Reuters ProView titles different from my MobiPocket BlackBerry versions of those same titles?

Thomson Reuters ProView is an entirely separate application and format from the MobiPocket BlackBerry version we offer. The MobiPocket BlackBerry version of the title is optimized only for BlackBerry devices, while the Thomson Reuters ProView is for the iPad and web browser. The Thomson Reuters ProView also features enhanced searching, annotation and viewing functionality that the MobiPocket BlackBerry version does not. Finally, the MobiPocket BlackBerry version does not offer a back-up of your notes and annotations as the Thomson Reuters ProView does.

11.   Can I access my Thomson Reuters ProView title on a different reader device like Kobo or Kindle?

No. Thomson Reuters ProView titles are only accessible from the Thomson Reuters ProView app installed on the iPad .

No. Kobo and Kindle eBooks are not accessible on the Thomson Reuters ProView platform.

Thomson Reuters ProView requires a OnePass username and password.  If you have an existing OnePass account you will need to add the registration key for Thomson Reuters ProView to your existing OnePass account. If you do not have a OnePass account you will need to set one up, and as part of that process, add your Thomson Reuters ProView registration key to your OnePass account. 2.     I downloaded the app from the Apple iTunes store but I don’t see the icon on my iPad.

If you have followed the download instructions, but still don’t see the app icon on your iPad, it  could be because you downloaded the app using your desktop iTunes application. To see the icon on your iPad, you need to connect your iPad device to your desktop computer and synchronize your data using the iTunes application on your desktop. You can retrieve your OnePass login credentials by clicking the “Forgot username or password?” option from the OnePass login screen at https://onepass.westlaw.com .  If you have misplaced your registration key, please contact Carswell Customer Relations at 416-609-3800 or at 1-800-387-5164 between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM EST.

4.     What is a OnePass account?

A OnePass account is a username and password that you create, which protects your identity and the information you access across multiple Thomson Reuters applications such as ProView, Westlaw Canada, Westlaw Business, TaxNet Pro., and other Thomson Reuters online products.

7.     Where can I find my Thomson Reuters ProView Registration Key?

In the welcome email sent to each end user with instructions to access your eBook, your Thomson Reuters ProView Registration Key appears at the top of your email. You can copy this registration key from your email to your OnePass account when you add Thomson Reuters ProView to your existing or new OnePass account. If you have misplaced your welcome email, please contact Carswell Technical Support at carswell.techsupport@thomsonreuters.com.

The Thomson Reuters ProView platform was launched in Fall 2011. Customers with print editions prior to the availability of Thomson Reuters ProView are currently being notified directly with instructions to download the Thomson Reuters ProView app.

2.     Will I automatically get access if I’m an existing customer?

Once you purchase the print version of a Thomson Reuters ProView title you are automatically entitled to the Thomson Reuters ProView version. You will receive an email notification from Carswell asking you to submit your end user registration information. Once you provide us with that information, the registered users will receive a Welcome Email with a Thomson Reuters ProView registration key and details on how to download the application and register the app in OnePass.

3.     I received my print book(s) but not my access to Thomson Reuters ProView – how do I get it?

An email will be sent to the person specified as the shipping contact for the printed book order, which will describe the process for requesting access to the eBook edition for the iPad and browser. Once Carswell receives the details of the end user(s) who need eBook access, each registered user will receive a Welcome Email with a Thomson Reuters ProView registration key and details on how to access the eBook. If you/the shipping contact for the print order hasn’t received an email to request end user information, please contact Carswell Customer Relations at 416-609-3800 or at 1-800-387-5164 between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM EST to confirm your purchase and end user registration.

4.     I don’t see a title I purchased in my Thomson Reuters ProView library.

Once your Thomson Reuters ProView app has been registered in OnePass, your library will automatically sync when you connect to the internet. If you still don’t see your title, please contact Carswell Customer Relations at 416-609-3800 or at 1-800-387-5164 between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM EST to confirm your purchase and end user registration.

5.     Can I get the Thomson Reuters ProView version without purchasing the print version?

At this time, no - you must purchase the print version in order to be entitled to the Thomson Reuters ProView version.

6.     What if I return my print copy?

Once your return has been processed the title will be removed from the Thomson Reuters ProView library.

7.     What if I purchase additional copies?

You will receive an email notification asking you to provide us with user registration information and, once provided, you will be sent instructions and a Registration Key to download the Thomson Reuters ProView app.

8.     What happens when a new edition of my Thomson Reuters ProView title is published - do I have to download the new edition?

If you have a subscription or standing order for a print title, you have already been registered to receive the new edition of your Thomson Reuters ProView title automatically. It will appear ready to download in your Thomson Reuters ProView library once it is released.

If your copy of the new edition is on a transactional or one-time basis, the billing contact individual on your account will be sent a request by email to re-register you for the new edition eBook - this is so even if you have already been registered for the previous edition eBook on Thomson Reuters ProView.

If you are unsure as to how your new edition title is ordered, please speak to the billing contact individual on your account. If you are the billing contact, to convert your one-time purchase into a standing order, please contact Carswell Customer Relations at 1-800-387-5164 (Toll Free Canada & US) / (416) 609-3800 (Toronto & Int'l).

9.     How long do I have access to my Thomson Reuters ProView title for – does it disappear once a new edition is published?

No, your purchased Thomson Reuters ProView title will not disappear. You will continue to have access to every Thomson Reuters ProView edition you have purchased.

10.   Am I still entitled to the MobiPocket Blackberry version with the purchase of the print book?

Yes, you are entitled to both versions with the purchase of the print book. However, you must still follow the same downloading procedures as before in order to access the MobiPocket BlackBerry version.

11.   How do I register and manage multiple users?

An administrator can choose to continue to communicate any changes to Carswell, or you may choose to register for My Account Password Administration to add or remove user access and edit user information yourself.

The Thomson Reuters ProView platform will be ready in Fall 2011. When access to the eBook version becomes available, print customers will be notified directly with instructions to manage multiple users.

You are entitled to have one eBook end user per print copy of the product you have purchased, so you can install the app only on iPad devices that you own and personally use.

You may install the Thomson Reuters ProView app on any iPad device you personally own and are personally using.

16.   Can I copy my notes from a previous edition eBook to the new edition?

Yes, you can copy your notes from a previous edition eBook to the new edition. The instructions to copy notes from one Thomson Reuters ProView eBook edition to another are as follows:

How to Copy Notes (copying notes/highlights from one eBook to another)

1.   While viewing your library, touch and hold your finger on the book’s updated version (the version to which you want to copy your notes)

2.   Tap Import Annotations

3.    Tap the title of the previous version (the version from which you want to import the notes)

4.   Tap Import

17.   What if some of my notes from a previous edition eBook have no obvious destination in the new edition eBook?

These are referred to as “displaced notes”. Displaced notes are notes from a previous edition that no longer have an obvious place in the new edition (e.g. a section of a statute that has since been repealed and no longer exists in the new edition). In this case, Thomson Reuters ProView gives you the opportunity (if you choose) to assign them to somewhere else in the new edition or not to copy them at all. Yes, you can copy your notes from a previous edition eBook to the new edition. The instructions to re-assign copy notes from one Thomson Reuters ProView eBook edition to another are as follows:

1.   In the book, tap and hold the section of text where you want to add the note

2.   Tap Attach Displaced Note

3.    Tap the displaced note you want to attach

Privacy

1.     What if I lose my device?

Your Thomson Reuters ProView titles will automatically sync to your new device when you install the Thomson Reuters ProView app and log in with your OnePass password. Any notes/annotations that have been backed up to our servers will likewise sync.

Yes, notes are stored in Thomson Reuters secure data centers. Only the named user has access to the notes – for this reason, please do not share your Thomson Reuters ProView login credentials.
