NEW THIS YEAR
  • Violence and Harassment in the Workplace - Bill 168 (S.O. 2009, c. 23) amends the Occupational Health and Safety Act to require employers to create a workplace violence policy and program and a workplace harassment policy and program (comes into force June 15, 2010).

  • Exposure Limits - O. Reg. 491/09 updates occupational exposure limits for 36 hazardous chemical substances in Reg. 833 and O. Reg. 490/09 consolidates 11 designated substance regulations into one (both come into force July 1, 2010).

  • Construction - O. Reg. 443/09 amends O. Reg. 213/91 to allow stilts to be used in residential construction (in force January 1, 2010).

  • Needle Safety - O. Reg. 439/09 amends O. Reg. 474/07, expanding the mandatory use of safety-engineered needles to additional workplaces, including doctors' and dentists' offices, community health centres, family health teams and independent health facilities and other workplaces where health-related services are provided (comes into force July 1, 2010).
