About the Author
Author(s): William Allen, John Pearson Allen, B.A., B.Sc., LL.B., LL.M.

Credentials: William Allen, LL.M., has a general practice, including estate planning, estate administration, business law, and securities law. A graduate of law from the University of Toronto, Mr. Allen became a lawyer in 1954. He later obtained a Masters of Law (LL.M.) from Osgoode Hall. He is a co-author of all three editions of the Estate Planning Handbook (Carswell 1985, 1991, 1999). He has lectured extensively in estate planning for the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada and is a director of a number of public companies.

John Pearson Allen has been in private practice since 1992 with a focus on business law and litigation. He clerked with the Ontario Superior Court. He is the co-author of Handing Provincial Offence Cases in Ontario the Estate Planning Handbook, Third Edition, and the regulatory offences newsletter RegQuest. He has written articles for the Advocates’ Society Journal, the Criminal Law Quarterly, as well as a securities netletter from 2001 – 2007. He also taught Evidence law and Torts and Contracts in the university degree program in Paralegal Studies at Toronto’s Humber Institute.
