Carswell print customers are eligible for one BlackBerry® edition eBook for every copy of the print edition they purchase. There is no charge to download the BlackBerry® app.

How do I download the BlackBerry® app?

When you buy a book that has a BlackBerry® eBook edition, you will receive an email with instructions to download the application and eBook for your BlackBerry® after your purchase has been completed. You can also click here to download the app – make sure you have your username and password ready to complete the download process.

Can I download the eBook to my iPhone® or to a Palm Treo® or other type of portable device?

Carswell has optimized the publication for the BlackBerry®, however, you will be able to download the eBook to any portable device that allows a memory card to be inserted and that supports the Mobipocket eBook Reader. Visit http://www.mobipocket.com/en/DownloadSoft/popup_SupportedPlatforms.asp  to find out the list of devices that the Mobipocket eBook Reader will support.

Is the download available to academic users?

No. The eBook download will not be offered to academic purchasers.

Does the eBook download work on all BlackBerry® devices?

The eBook download works best on the Storm 9700 series. For all other models, a memory card (SD or MicroSD card) must be purchased. Please purchase a card with at least 10 MB of memory. Please note that as the 8700 series does not come with a slot to add a memory card, the download will not work on this device.

I purchased Carswell books before they were available for the BlackBerry®. How do I get a password for my existing subscription?

How many downloads am I entitled to if I buy one copy of a Carswell book?

The purchase of one copy of a Carswell book with an eBook edition entitles you to one (1) eBook download.

Can a librarian register multiple lawyers at once, or do they all have to be done individually?

Multiple registrations can occur at one time. A librarian can send one email to carswell.orders@thomsonreuters.com listing the names and email addresses of each lawyer that requires the download. Please note the download will need to be downloaded by each individual as there is no network download version available.

Can I purchase an eBook-only download without the print edition?

No, the eBook download is available only with the purchase of a print version of the Carswell book.

What navigation options are available for the BlackBerry® eBook?

To allow users to rapidly jump to a desired location, detailed hyper-linking has been built into the Tables of Sections which are found in the Table of Content. This feature allows the user to navigate the eBook easily on the BlackBerry®. For your convenience, a copy of the navigation help guide has been made available at the top of this page for each book.

How much memory is required to download the eBook?

The amount of memory used for the download depends on the eBook title purchased, but will be approximately 2.5 – 4.5 MB.

No, at this time we do not offer a web-hosted version of the download.
