Thomson Carswell Announces Acquisition of Guide to Civil Litigation – BC edition

Thomson Carswell purchases the authoritative practice manual for BC legal support staff from Evin Ross Publications

Toronto, ON -

Thomson Carswell (www.carswell.com), Canada’s leading provider of specialized information and electronic research solutions to the legal, tax, finance, accounting and human resources markets, today announced the acquisition of Guide to Civil Litigation – BC edition from Evin Ross Publications Ltd.

“Our Guides are widely known as the place where legal support staff look for answers to procedural questions,” said Heather Mackenzie, President of Evin Ross. “Over the years, the most frequent comment we have received about the Guide to Civil Litigation is that it is the litigation assistant’s “bible”.  We are confident that it will continue to be so under our friends at Thomson Carswell.”

“For over 25 years, lawyers and legal support staff have found this guide to be an invaluable resource. While many texts cover the substantive law issues, there are not many works that address the procedural issues that law firms face on a daily basis,” said Don Van Meer, President and CEO, Thomson Carswell. “We are proud to include the Guide within Thomson Carswell’s line of leading civil litigation services.”

The Guide to Civil Litigation is an information-packed manual with detailed procedures, sample documents and letters, helpful practice hints and pitfalls to avoid.  Written in a clear, straightforward manner, the Guide is organized so that BC legal professionals can quickly find the information and answers that they need.

“We are excited to be adding this service to our Civil Litigation product line,” said Rachel Francis, Director, Legal Strategic Market Group. “By providing guidance on how to prepare and utilize over 100 procedural documents, instructions on completing key procedural tasks and a library of precedents, this resource allows firms working for a BC litigant to be more effective and helps them reduce their risk of failing to comply with procedural rules.”

Evin Ross will continue to vibrantly serve the legal community and publish comprehensive, practical, updated and reasonably priced practice guides, including the Guide to Corporate Records and Guide to Wills & Estates.
