Canada's two oldest and most respected legal publishers collaborate to evolve the world of legal research.

Announcing WestlaweCARSWELL IPSource - the unprecedented online legal research source for Canadian intellectual property practitioners

St. John’s, Nfld and Toronto, Ont. -

Today, Canada Law Book Inc. and Carswell, a division of Thomson Canada Limited, announced a joint agreement to collaborate in the development of the online research destination of choice for Canadian intellectual property (IP) practitioners.

WestlaweCARSWELL IPSource will be the latest addition to the award-winning WestlaweCARSWELL Source product series. IPSource will combine the Canadian Patent Reporter (C.P.R.), Canada Law Book's seminal law reporter in intellectual property, with comprehensive and relevant information on copyright, trademark and patent issues along with expert commentary. This integration of content from a variety of sources will provide a one-stop destination of choice for Canadian IP practitioners.

This ground-breaking collaboration is unprecedented in the Canadian legal community. Together, Carswell and Canada Law Book bring the combined excellence of almost 300 years of service to legal practitioners. Through this initiative, IP practitioners will have access to an unrivalled tool – one that combines the distinct and unique contents of Carswell and Canada Law Book, delivered through the power and seamless functionality of WestlaweCARSWELL.

"We are very excited about our relationship with Carswell. Both companies will benefit by consolidating our intellectual property … and the Canadian legal community will be offered a new and innovative solution,” said Stuart Morrison, President of Canada Law Book.

"This initiative integrates the strengths of both companies – thought leadership, innovation and comprehensive information – to bring customers an unprecedented single source for intellectual property research," said Don Van Meer, President and CEO of Carswell. “We are extremely pleased to be working with Canada Law Book in re-defining the online legal research market."
