Conversion Editor
(1-year contract)
As a Conversion Editor you will be responsible for assisting in the SGML data conversion process from assessing the data to be converted to the loading of the data into the database.
Your duties will include:
· processing of SGML coded data using Omnimark scripts;
· ensuring that SGML and HTML coded data meets Carswell’s tagging standards;
· reviewing and analyzing data in order to respond to Vendor queries;
· liaising with overseas Vendors;
· liaising with Data Analysis, SGML Technicians, Research Editors and Content Editors as required;
· scanning and transmitting data to suppliers;
· amending data either editorially or through SGML tagging at the request of customers;
· occasional proofreading to ensure keyboarding compliance to required accuracy rate; and
· assisting Supervisor with other Conversion tasks as required.
You will be a strong team player and will possess:
· a university degree or equivalent work experience;
· good communication skills;
· a keen eye for detail;
· good problem solving skills; and
· PC Skills – MS Office.
Knowledge of SGML/HTML and UNIX would be considered an asset.
