Bio:
The Honourable G. Arthur Martin is unquestionably the pre-eminent criminal authority in Canada. He was a Gold Medallist graduate from both the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School, and received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the Law Society of Upper Canada and Queen's University. In 1967 he was described in the Journal of Criminal Law, Criminology and Police Science as being "one of the world's greatest defense lawyers in criminal cases."
Following his appointment to the Ontario Court of Appeal in 1973, The Honourable G. Arthur Martin wrote the decisions for many (if not most) of the leading decisions on criminal law and practice. His analysis laid the groundwork for modern Canadian law in this area, and continues to be quoted and applied by the Supreme Court of Canada and trial and appellate courts in all provinces.
