China’s Ministry of Commerce announced that between January and March 2007, 9,297 new foreign-invested enterprises were established, up 4.36% from last year. The top 10 investing countries and regions were Hong Kong, the British Virgin Islands, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the United States, the Cayman Islands, Samoa, Taiwan, and Mauritius.
As foreign capital investment from Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands increases in China today, this brings about the need for increased awareness of the governing laws of these regions and enhancements to existing business models. This timely publication provides lawyers and company directors with an indispensable guide to the corporate laws of these three important jurisdictions, offering comprehensive, practical information on formation, capital raising debt, capital raising equity, mutual funds, securitisations, mergers and acquisitions, minority rights, compliance issues, restructurings, schemes of arrangements and the new BVI Insolvency Act on liquidations.
The second edition of this landmark work provides up-to-date laws, commentary and template forms for a variety of actions plus extracts of relevant regulations as well as a useful side-by-side comparison of the three jurisdictions.
